Light plane landing on Sunday mornings, on field where Athelstan School now stands, to deliver Sunday papers. Prefabs on Richmond Park Crescent where I lived to age 11. Going to the pictures at the Plaza on Saturday mornings. Going to the youth club on St Josephs Road at the old Endowed School. Drinking hot Vimto at the "Drink Shop" (herbalist) at Handsworth Top (near Plaza). The Parkway Cafe, or was it the Omega (?) on the Triangle becoming the teenagers hangout. (why was it called the Triangle Estate?).
Comments:
Time flies. My son. Michael, was 11 and attending Athelstan School when we emigrated. He is now 37 and has presented me with 4 Grandchildren. Husband Graham and I live in a beaut. house on 2 acres of land. Kangaroos visit regularly. Fresh eggs from our chickens. Both working. Graham makes sure the inmates stay in at a Mental Hospital. I look after Housing Loans at a Credit Society. Both of us are in Service Clubs - to put a bit back into the community which has been good to us.
