Remembers (people):
So many, but my memories are those of a young schoolboy. Bob & David Mather (The Post Office), Bozzy the Barber, John Morgan, The Hines Confectionery & Tobacconists,Miss Shaw the Chemist with her tribe of noisy Pomeranian dogs,Ted Warhurst (my Godfather), who was a sidesman at St Mary's, & his
brother Charlie who delivered the milk in a pony-trap. Mrs Muscroft who worked for my Grandfather at Esat Bank (467 Handsworth Rd) and her daughter Harriet (Hettie) now Mrs Hemstock and still living locally. So many memories come flooding back.
Remembers (places):
Drinking Hot Vimto in the Herbalists shop, playing in Fisher Son & Sibrays Nursery, and of course on The Rec. The visiting fair, riding on the trams (as schoolboys "bagging the
front bay"). Going to the Plaza cinema with my parents. My grandfather closing down the Blue Stone Quarry because of the war (1939-1947).
