‘Working together in partnership to empower the local community

What is it?

Handsworth Community Forum (see also http://www.handsworthforum.org.uk)

What is it for?

The forum aims to: - Encourage access to learning, skills improvement and local employment for people from all backgrounds. Protect and improve local amenities including parks, countryside and historical assets. Promote the health, welfare and safety of residents in Handsworth. Provide support to and work with local volunteers and groups in order to secure improvements for local people.

How does it do this?

Free training courses! Crime awareness, Spanish, Basic Computers, First Aid, Yoga, Organising litter picks and reporting graffiti.

Community events— Handsworth Fun Day, Car Boot Sale, Christmas events, Guided walks, Workshops for local people, Consultation events, Community audits, Competitions with schools

Campaign on local issues– public meetings, community questionnaires, Community Safety group

Health Initiatives, Health walks, Chairobics, Herbal remedies workshop, Air monitoring project

Communication: Attend meetings on new developments, and report back to community groups and individuals, Free community newsletter to all residents.

How can I help?

You can join the forum! Handsworth Community Forum membership is open to anyone living or working in the Handsworth area who cares about what is happening in the local community.

We are always looking for people or representatives from local organisations who want to help make a difference and improve the area. Members can contribute as much time as they have available.
